Budget Administrative Specialist II
About the role
The Budget Administrative Specialist II reports to the Assistant Dean for Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) and monitors and reconciles budgets and sub-budgets using Tulane’s financial systems. This position assists with accounting and payroll tasks, including expense reports and procurement, and serves as a resource for expense report creation, submission, and compliance, including training users on policies and procedures. The Specialist supports the annual budgeting process for the school and may assist students with billing questions or issues. This role also manages a Tulane Purchasing Card and Corporate Card for school-related business. Strict confidentiality is required due to access to sensitive data such as payroll, salary information, employment files, and credit card numbers.
Responsibilities
- Knowledge of accounting and financial systems and generating budget reports.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and verbal/written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and address needs and questions quickly.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to utilize shared files via a cloud storage system.
- Knowledge of Tulane’s financial systems and required elements for expense reports.
- Ability to work with individuals with diverse levels of knowledge and understanding of Tulane systems.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree and at least two years of related work experience, or
- High school diploma/equivalent and six years of directly related work experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in an academic environment.
- Five years of directly applicable payroll, accounts receivable/payable, and budget reconciliation experience.
