About the role

The LMC acts in an advisory capacity for Premier (National) Hockey, ensuring delivery is fit for purpose and providing the BUCS Executive with advice from key stakeholders, such as members and National Governing Body representatives. The Committee works dynamically with the Sport Advisory Group (SAG) to align developments and changes within the league with the wider BUCS hockey programme, supporting BUCS’ ambition to deliver exceptional student sporting experiences that inspire, develop, and unite.

BUCS is looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated individual who is currently studying at a BUCS Member Institution competing in Open Hockey National League to act as Student Representative for the Open Hockey programme on the Hockey League Management Committee (HLMC). The Student Representative will present the voice and opinions of student-athletes within the Open Hockey programme and act as an ambassador for BUCS.

Responsibilities

  • Act as an ambassador for BUCS and the Open Hockey programme.
  • Establish relationships between BUCS and student-athletes within Open Hockey member institutions.
  • Build and maintain a communication network with other students playing Open Hockey National League in institutions other than their own.
  • Advise the HLMC on all matters relating to the student perspective of Open Hockey.
  • Offer insight and feedback on the current Open Hockey structure and provide member-led feedback for the future of Open Hockey.
  • Help develop a strategic annual delivery plan encompassing student feedback as one element of the plan.
  • Attend all relevant HLMC meetings and provide updates on actions from previous meetings.
  • Comply with the BUCS Volunteer Code of Conduct.
