About the role

Caressant Care is seeking a passionate BSO and Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to join their team in Marmora, Ontario.

Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate care to residents with various conditions including dementia, delirium, mental health issues, addictions, and neurological conditions.
  • Implement and monitor behavioral support plans using evidence-based practices such as PIECES, GPA, U-First, Teepa Snow GEMs, PAC, Mental Health First Aid, Non-violent crisis interventions, DementiAbility, and others as required by Behavioural Supports Ontario.
  • Engage with residents, families, and caregivers to understand and meet their needs.
  • Participate in ongoing learning and development opportunities to enhance professional skills and knowledge.

Requirements

  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Extensive knowledge and skills in working with residents with dementia, delirium, mental health, addictions, and other neurological conditions.
  • Training and knowledge in PIECES, GPA, U-First, Teepa Snow GEMs, PAC, Mental Health First Aid, Non-violent crisis interventions, DementiAbility, and any other courses required by Behavioural Supports Ontario, or willingness to receive training.
  • Maturity, responsibility, and leadership qualities.
  • Geriatric long-term care experience.
  • Good interpersonal skills, particularly in understanding and addressing the needs of families and caregivers.
  • Familiarity with RAI documentation and care planning functions.
  • Familiarity with WHMIS regulations and ability to complete tests.

Qualifications

  • Preference given to candidates with extensive knowledge and skills in working with residents with dementia, delirium, mental health, addictions, and other neurological conditions.
  • Willingness to engage in ongoing learning and development to enhance professional skills and knowledge.

Skills

  • Knowledge of PIECES, GPA, U-First, Teepa Snow GEMs, PAC, Mental Health First Aid, Non-violent crisis interventions, DementiAbility, and other relevant courses.
  • Experience in geriatric long-term care settings.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, especially in understanding and addressing the needs of families and caregivers.
  • Familiarity with RAI documentation and care planning functions.
  • Compliance with WHMIS regulations.
