Brownfields Specialist/Senior Project Manager
About the role
We are growing and seeking an environmental professional experienced in the assessment and clean-up of brownfields. The successful candidate will manage brownfield grant and other site investigation projects, assist with grant applications, and develop strategic marketing plans to grow a coordinated Brownfields Program in Ohio.
Responsibilities
- Manage brownfield projects, as well as mentor supporting staff, including contracting, managing project budgets and schedules, and coordinating with clients, staff, property owners, and regulators.
- Lead safety efforts for team and ensure team follows safety rules and guidelines.
- Support the creation/refinement of brownfield redevelopment strategies, including assessment/investigation and remedial strategies for various types of sites and contaminants.
- Work as part of a team on complex regulatory projects involving multiple stakeholders, agencies and professionals.
- Aid with proposals and business development activities, including attending conferences and market support activities.
Requirements
- B.S. in Environmental Science, Geology or Engineering; M.S. is a plus and a minimum of 15+ years of professional environmental consulting experience.
- Demonstrated experience in all phases of environmental investigation and preparation and scoping of investigative and remedial strategies.
- Prior experience with the Ohio Voluntary Action Program, and USEPA and State of Ohio brownfield grants.
- Prior experience in environmental consulting and complex brownfield project management.
- Existing client base and 10+ years responsibility for managing and growing existing and new accounts.
- Proven track record with successful marketing, regional business development, and client relationship management.
- Strong business acumen and attributes, coupled with knowledge and experience of the brownfield redevelopment process, including thorough knowledge of due diligence, remediation, and overall redevelopment processes.
- Interest and experience in community revitalization; ability to identify and address barriers to bringing brownfields into productive reuse.
- Strong verbal, written, presentation, and excellent client management skills.
Qualifications
- Valid U.S. driver's license.
- 40-hour HAZWOPER training preferred.
- Willingness and ability to potentially work in unfavorable weather conditions.
Skills
- Self-motivated with good written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness and ability to follow directives/instructions.
- Interpret technical work both in the field and office, as well as communicate technical concepts to clients and the public.

Pay
Compensation is commensurate with experience.
