Brooklyn Elementary School - Long-Term Substitute Elementary Teacher

Responsibilities

• Create and implement engaging, grade-appropriate lesson plans aligned with curriculum expectations and educational standards.
• Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation, curiosity, and a love of learning.
• Absorb and monitor student progress using a variety of instructional and assessment strategies.
• Communicate effectively with families regarding student progress, classroom activities, and behavioral or academic concerns.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, specialists, and administration to support student success.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of students.
• Maintain positive classroom management practices that promote respect, responsibility, and engagement.
• Utilize educational technology and instructional resources including our curricular programming, Wit and Wisdom, iReady Math and UFLI to enhance student learning experiences.
• Participate in team meetings, professional development opportunities, and school activities as appropriate.
• Prepare and organize instructional materials and classroom resources to support effective teaching and learning.
• Supervise students during school-related activities as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field required.
• Valid Connecticut teaching certification preferred.
• Ability to pass required background checks and comply with district policies and procedures.
• Must complete all pre-employment requirements before the start date.

Salary

1st 40 days: $140.00 per day
41st day: Per Contract with the BEA
