Role Description
The Broker Relations Manager is a full-time, Hybrid role based in New York State. This role is responsible for developing, maintaining, and strengthening relationships with insurance brokers and intermediaries to enhance distribution channels and support NYSIF’s business objectives.
- Serving as the primary point of contact for broker inquiries
- Cooking onboarding and training for brokers
- Providing guidance on NYSIF products, policies, and procedures
- Monitoring broker performance
- Analyzing market and broker data
- Preparing reports and recommendations to improve engagement and growth
- Collaborating with internal teams such as underwriting, claims, marketing, and compliance to resolve issues, support broker-driven initiatives, and ensure consistent communication and service
Qualifications
- Experience in broker, agency, or client relationship management, including building long-term partnerships and resolving complex service issues
- Background in insurance, risk management, or financial services, with knowledge of workers’ compensation or commercial lines strongly preferred
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain products, processes, and policies clearly to diverse stakeholders
- Analytical and organizational skills to interpret broker and market data, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple relationships and projects simultaneously
- Collaborative work style with the ability to coordinate effectively with underwriting, claims, marketing, and compliance teams
- Proficiency with common office software and CRM or relationship-management tools for tracking interactions and reporting activity
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, communications, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience
- Understanding of regulatory and compliance considerations in the insurance industry; experience with a public or government-related insurer is a plus
- Able to work on-site in New York, NY and attend internal and external meetings, broker visits, and industry events as needed
