About the role
This position provides technical assistance to producers caring for the company’s birds, ensuring proper care and comfort.
Responsibilities
- Advise producers on building and equipment specifications, litter manipulation, and farm sanitation.
- Visit farms to document bird comfort, manage flock and equipment settings, monitor bird health, and provide remedies when possible.
- Monitor feed consumption and order feed if necessary.
- Pull blood and fat samples as required.
- Coordinate chick placements to farms.
- Assist with catch schedules.
- Ensure communication among Hatchery, Feedmill, and Livehaul departments regarding contract farms.
- Ensure compliance with production contracts to optimize flock quality and minimize costs.
- Ensure adherence to all USDA and other government regulations regarding poultry handling.
- Work with the Broiler and Breeder Departments in coordinating weekly chick placements.
- Perform other responsibilities as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in an agricultural field or equivalent experience relevant to the position preferred.
- 1+ years’ experience in a poultry or agriculture-related field preferred.
- Strong communication skills: ability to convey information clearly and effectively through both verbal and written means, proficiency in active listening, and adapting communication style to various audiences.
- Basic computer skills such as checking email, entering data into document templates, or creating simple queries.
- 1 to 5 trips per year.
- Must not own, possess, or otherwise maintain any domestic, wild, or exotic fowl.
- Must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
