About the Role
Partner with growers to raise the highest quality birds at the least cost. This is a salaried, exempt position.
Responsibilities
- Assist farms in proper procedures for efficient and productive management to produce high-quality, low-cost meat for the processing plant.
- Communicate frequently with farms to ensure maximum productivity of each bird.
- Instruct and teach farm managers on achieving production goals.
- Conduct frequent farm tours to identify opportunities and generate solutions.
- Assign and plan duty delegation and cost controls for every aspect of the farm.
- Provide technical assistance for efficient poultry production, including advice on flock health.
- Accomplish quality performance in alignment with the company’s total quality program of continuous process improvement and customer relations.
- Follow a management schedule for weighing, drawing blood, and pulling fat samples from flocks.
- Monitor the health and safety of all flocks daily.
- Participate in team development, communication, and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies.
- Attend team meetings and foster cohesiveness on major issues such as direction, annual plans, budgets, and policy changes.
- Identify and resolve areas lacking cohesiveness, working with the team in a supportive manner.
- Reinforce actions needed to achieve synergy within the larger organization.
- Maintain familiarity with Simmons’ operating systems (e.g., quality, security, office environment, company policies, LEAN) and understand the role in supporting these systems.
- Communicate concerns and improvement ideas related to operating systems.
- Perform additional duties as necessary to support business objectives.
Requirements
- 1–2 years of supervisory experience preferred.
- 3–5 years of experience in poultry or a similar industry.
- Related Bachelor’s degree or 4 years of experience in manufacturing, poultry, or a related field in lieu of a degree.
- Willingness to work in various temperatures, including extreme weather conditions and dark environments.
- Ability to work in a broiler/breeder house environment and surrounding property.
- Must be on call 24/7 as needed and able to work any hours required, including standing for entire shifts.
- Ability to climb stairs/ladders.
- Travel domestically to multiple facilities or work-sites, possibly requiring overnight stays.
- Must adhere to all company vehicle policies, including hands-free device usage, seat belt usage, and no smoking.

- Enter and locate information on a computer, often verifying small print.
- Communicate with customers, vendors, or employees via telephone, in person, or electronic mail.
- Present information to small or large groups.
- Move about in a broiler/breeder house environment and surrounding property.
