About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Broadcast Teleport Technician responsible for the timely and accurate availability of all programming content for MTNTV. This role coordinates daily activities of the transmission service function on the network while accurately maintaining all necessary information on program media and various systems. The goal is to ensure the reliability, availability, and optimal performance of our broadcast infrastructure for seamless live TV delivery to our subscribers.
This position reports directly to the Broadcast Master Control Room Manager and will collaborate with internal teams, external vendors, and partners to build and operate a robust, scalable, and reliable TV content platform. Onsite presence is required, along with availability for on-call support during technical emergencies and weekend coverage during scheduled live broadcast events.
Responsibilities
- Follow all standard operating procedures to ensure effective results on all workflows.
- Schedule listing service, conditional access, and automation.
- Monitor service level and take appropriate action to maintain.
- Schedule recording and monitor live broadcast events.
- Generate reports identifying the media status during various stages in the life of a program, ensuring all program media is accurate and available for broadcast.
- Establish good working relationships with internal/external departments to ensure timely completion of various tasks.
- Monitor and maintain quality levels for the telecommunications network for anomalies and handle issues from customers according to established procedures for management and technical escalations.
- Actively participate in group discussions and meetings, disseminating appropriate information to direct reports and the department as needed.
- Perform Program Preparation and Quality Control tasks of media content, commercial, and promotional spots.
- Use test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment to analyze, interpret, troubleshoot, document, and restore digital services.
- Initiate emergency restoration procedures following commercial power failures.
- Monitor earth station and terrestrial systems for proper operation.
- Document and troubleshoot station equipment and initiate equipment repairs.
- Work with customers in the configuration and troubleshooting of satellite receiver equipment (Cisco).
- Monitor RF, IF, and L-band satellite networks.
- Other duties as may be assigned.
Requirements
- 2 years of college or technical school.
- 1–2 years of experience within the broadcast industry (preferably in Operations, NOC, and/or Program Prep).
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders with a client-focused attitude.
- Ability to stay current with evolving broadcast and streaming technology trends.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects.
- Familiarity with budgeting and cost management for technology initiatives.
- Motivated, goal-oriented, persistent, and a skilled negotiator.
- Ability to negotiate and liaise with customers.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications.
- Excellent customer service skills and attention to detail.
