Broadcast Technology Specialist
About the role
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving technical challenges, working across a wide variety of systems, and supporting the technology that keeps television stations on the air. You’ll gain hands-on experience across: Broadcast engineering, IT infrastructure, Networking, Live production systems, RF and transmitter operations, and Remote broadcast support.
Responsibilities
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair broadcast and IT systems to support reliable station operations
- Support live broadcasts and remote productions, including setup, monitoring, and troubleshooting
- Execute and improve preventative maintenance programs
- Install, configure, and maintain: Managed network switches, Servers and workstations, IP-based broadcast systems, Production and routing equipment
- Provide technical support to News, Production, Creative Services, Sales, and Administration teams
- Travel as needed to transmitter sites, remote locations, and live event venues
- Document systems, workflows, and technical procedures
- Collaborate with Engineering and IT teams on system upgrades and new technology deployments
- Support GatesAir transmitters and satellite systems
Requirements
- Experience with managed network switches and IP-based systems
- Understanding of TCP/IP networking, VPNs, and LAN/WAN environments
- Experience supporting servers, workstations, and network infrastructure
- Familiarity with broadcast equipment and live production environments
- Experience with Windows desktop and server operating systems
- Knowledge of RF, transmitter, or satellite systems is a plus
- Cisco, VMware, Microsoft, or related certifications
- SBE certification
- Military communications or technical training background
- AV, IT support, or systems integration experience

Pay

Schedule & Work Environment
This position involves a structured rotating schedule that may include: Early mornings, Evenings, Weekends. The rotation is designed to provide balanced operational coverage while giving team members exposure to all aspects of station operations.
