About the role
The Broadband Specialist V, Headend position at Mediacom Communications is responsible for maintaining, repairing, adding, altering, and generally keeping up primary and secondary headends, antennas, towers, earth stations, and related equipment. This includes performing regular maintenance, repairs, testing, and adjustments on all headend equipment, and ensuring compliance with FCC rules and specifications.
Responsibilities
- Perform all job responsibilities and duties of a Broadband Specialist I-V.
- Maintain and repair all headend equipment including processors, modulators, demodulators, encoders, decoders, satellite receivers, switchers, fiber optic transmitters, receivers, and other necessary equipment.
- Initiate and complete comprehensive testing including FCC required or recommended tests and measurements.
- Design and implement service additions, changes, and improvements, including air conditioning, power conditioning, standby generators, towers, antennas, and satellite RX/TX stations.
- Train personnel as directed by supervisor.
- Protect and secure equipment, property, and materials against loss, theft, or damage.
- Ensure all assigned equipment is in proper working order through regular calibration, repair, adjustment, and alignment.
- Operate in all weather conditions and at various heights, and adhere to safety protocols.
- Install and change services while adhering to applicable codes, requirements, guidelines, company procedures, and safe work practices.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of cable television or telecommunications technical experience, with at least 3 years as an Advanced Technician or equivalent.
- A high school diploma or GED.
- An associate's degree preferred.
- A valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to interpret and correctly fill out various work order forms.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions and at various heights.

Pay
The pay range for this position is $21.25 - $30.97 per hour. Salary will be determined based on years of related work experience, relevant skills and qualifications, education level, and certifications/licenses.
