Primary Responsibilities
- Provides Shaken Baby Syndrome prevention and Talking is Teaching education services to parents and extended families of newborns and young children at area hospitals.
- Utilizes “The Period of Purple Crying” and “Talking is Teaching” curricula as primary teaching tools.
- Keeps accurate program records regarding participant demographic information.
- Presents the Family Connects model to families at participating hospitals and schedules Family Connects home visitation appointments.
- Maintains necessary licensure and other documentation/records as required by the area hospitals.
- Attends agency staff and department meetings, participates in quality improvement activities.
- Follows The Parent Child Center’s policies, procedures, and program protocols.
- Demonstrates the agency’s values of compassion, respect, learning, adaptability, and achievement.
- Works well with culturally diverse communities and families and is culturally sensitive to families and their needs.
Requirements
- Current registered nurse or licensed practical nurse licensure required.
- Possesses a valid driver’s license and ability to drive to and from local hospitals daily.
- Maintains current BLS certification.
- Ability to work Saturdays and Sundays as part of the official work week and some evenings if needed.
- Excellent oral communication and active listening skills.
- Excellent computer skills.
Schedule
Three weekends per month, Saturday and Sunday from 8am - 5pm.
Salary Description
$30 - $32/hour
