Bright Beginnings Nurse Educator (Part Time)

Primary Responsibilities

• Provides Shaken Baby Syndrome prevention and Talking is Teaching education services to parents and extended families of newborns and young children at area hospitals.
• Utilizes “The Period of Purple Crying” and “Talking is Teaching” curricula as primary teaching tools.
• Keeps accurate program records regarding participant demographic information.
• Presents the Family Connects model to families at participating hospitals and schedules Family Connects home visitation appointments.
• Maintains necessary licensure and other documentation/records as required by the area hospitals.
• Attends agency staff and department meetings, participates in quality improvement activities.
• Follows The Parent Child Center’s policies, procedures, and program protocols.
• Demonstrates the agency’s values of compassion, respect, learning, adaptability, and achievement.
• Works well with culturally diverse communities and families and is culturally sensitive to families and their needs.

Requirements

• Current registered nurse or licensed practical nurse licensure required.
• Possesses a valid driver’s license and ability to drive to and from local hospitals daily.
• Maintains current BLS certification.
• Ability to work Saturdays and Sundays as part of the official work week and some evenings if needed.
• Excellent oral communication and active listening skills.
• Excellent computer skills.

Schedule

Three weekends per month, Saturday and Sunday from 8am - 5pm.

Salary Description

$30 - $32/hour
