Bridging the Gap Counselor
The Salvation Army’s Springfield Corps. is hiring a Bridging the Gap Counselor and offers the following benefit package to part-time employees:

Location
170 Pearl Street, Springfield, MA
Hours/week
15 hours per week; Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday (1pm to 6pm)
Exemption
Non-exempt
Pay Range
$18.00 - $25.00 per hour
Duties & Responsibilities
- Help plan and assist Bridging the Gap Curriculum
- Review lesson plans and offer input
- Attend weekly staff meetings
- Attend at least one group per week as an observer
- Discuss each participant’s progress with BTG Coordinator and intern
- Maintain a document of all participant’s addresses
- Advocate for participants where necessary
- Talk to participants as required/needed
- Talk to teens at Bridging the Gap with varying personal backgrounds
- Attend training sessions as required
- Coincordinate with area colleges and graduate programs to recruit interns and volunteers
- Represent The Salvation Army’s social mission in the Bridging the Gap program
- Refer persons with spiritual needs to The Salvation Army Corps Office
- Perform other related tasks as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications
- Education Requirements: A college student, preferably a college graduate
- Work Experience: Must have some a minimum of 1 year experience working with young adults
- Other Qualifications: Ability to work with disadvantage youth is a definite plus Must be knowledgeable about outside referral services Must be at least 21 years of age
