Job Responsibilities
- This is a part-time, hourly position working up to 29 hours per week.
- Peer Counselor positions are located in Richmond County and may travel to other counties within the East Central Health District as assigned for community outreach.
- This is not a remote position.
- Positions will report to work in an assigned clinic.
- All East Central Health District 6 employees are deemed essential workers in the event of an emergency.
- As a Peer Counselor, you may be called on to participate in events such as staffing a shelter, working at a Specimen Point of Collection Site (SPOC), and/or working at a Point of Dispensing site (POD).
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED and 6 months of experience in a related field.
- Must have experience in breastfeeding at least one baby for a period of at least six months and has been or is currently a WIC participant.
- Is enthusiastic about breastfeeding and wants to help other mothers enjoy a positive experience.
- Has reliable transportation and holds a valid driver’s license and drives independently.
- Has good customer service skills, relating to persons of diverse ethnic and cultural background, and communicates in a professional, courteous, and tactful manner.
