About the role
The Bridge Superintendent will oversee all on-site construction activities for bridge projects in the Shreveport, LA area, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget while maintaining quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise all aspects of bridge construction projects from planning to completion, including site layout, concrete pouring, steel erection, and finishing work.
- Ensure adherence to all safety regulations, company policies, and project specifications.
- Develop and implement project schedules, monitor progress, and report on deviations.
- Coordinate and manage project resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials.
- Supervise and mentor on-site crews, fostering a productive and safe work environment.
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure quality control and compliance with plans and specifications.
- Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, clients, and subcontractors.
- Identify and resolve construction issues and conflicts promptly.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including daily reports, safety logs, and progress reports.
- Participate in project meetings and provide regular updates on project status.
Requirements
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience as a Superintendent or similar role on heavy civil construction projects, with significant experience specifically in bridge construction.
- Proven track record of successfully managing and completing bridge projects.
- Thorough knowledge of bridge construction methods, techniques, and materials.
- Strong understanding of construction safety regulations and best practices.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction documents.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in project scheduling software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- OSHA 30 certification preferred.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to various job sites in the Shreveport, LA area.
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred, or equivalent work experience.
