BRIDGE/STRUCTURAL FOREMAN

About the Role

Branch Civil is searching for a Bridge/Structures Foreman to provide direct in-field supervision of a bridge and structures crew working on all phases of heavy highway/civil concrete or steel structures and related construction projects. This role ensures efficiency, safety, and quality while working closely with the Structures Superintendent.

Responsibilities

• Ensures crew maintains professional relations with the Owner, Engineer, and other team members.
• Builds job according to plans and specifications as directed by supervisor.
• Develops and executes an effective work plan in cooperation with the Superintendent, determining means and methods to meet project goals.
• Oversees proper storage, operation, and maintenance of materials and equipment, including inventory checks.
• Recognizes and reports requests for extra work.
• Prepares or assists in preparing daily reports, work unit quantity reports, equipment reports, and material receipts.
• Ensures quality control and contract compliance for grading and construction activities.
• Serves as the front-line safety officer, responsible for accident control and OSHA compliance at jobsites.
• Participates in safety meetings, implements safety programs, and communicates Miss Utility policy.
• Assists in post-incident investigations.
• Identifies and recommends workers for career growth opportunities.
• Responsible for training and development of workers.
• Attends end-of-shift and morning meetings to discuss coordination and operational issues.
• Participates in weekly team meetings and helps develop the weekly work plan.
• Promotes a positive work environment with an emphasis on mutual respect and morale.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 3+ years of experience managing a crew in heavy highway/bridge construction.
• 5+ years of heavy civil/structures construction experience.
• Familiarity with construction specifications, means, and methods.
• Experience with DOT and/or Federal projects.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• OSHA 10 Certification.
• Valid driver’s license and compliance with Branch Group Fleet Policy.
• Ability to read and comprehend blueprints, shop drawings, and specifications.
• Hands-on experience with driving pile, forming concrete, placing concrete, erecting precast concrete members, and erecting structural steel.
• Knowledge of bridge construction equipment, forming systems, and grade calculations.

Pay

Salary range: $64,970.50 – $111,420. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors.

Schedule

This is a full-time position requiring 40+ hours per week. Due to the nature of the job, the employee must be available on-call for early/late hours to address delays, bad weather, and emergencies at the job site.

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to talk or hear, stand, walk, use hands, and reach with hands and arms.
• Occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Work is often performed at heights up to 60 feet, involving ladders, scaffolds, and stair towers.
• Frequently works with hands extended overhead, sometimes operating hand power tools.
• Ability to lift and carry at least 50 pounds personally and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
• Must be able to safely climb on and off heavy mobile equipment.

Travel

Travel is infrequent but may be required to project sites. Employees must be willing and able to travel as needed.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position may supervise 5 or more employees.
