About the role

We are seeking an experienced and talented Bridge and Structural Lead in Chicago to join our team. This role offers an opportunity to lead, coach, and mentor a team of structural engineering professionals, provide technical and quality reviews, collaborate on business development, and manage projects effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and mentor a team of structural engineering professionals.
  • Maintain a positive, collaborative work culture by encouraging open communication, supporting team development, and fostering an environment where staff feel valued and empowered.
  • Provide technical and quality reviews for structural plans to ensure compliance with design standards, constructability requirements, and project-specific criteria.
  • Collaborate with leadership to develop and execute business development, contributing towards winning new work in the region including cross-selling and individually pursue and lead pursuits.
  • Maintain and enhance our reputation with clients, approval agencies, and industry professionals as an outstanding service provider.
  • Manage the approved scope, budget, and schedule on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Establish project objectives, procedures, and performance standards, and lead multi-disciplinary teams on proposals, planning studies, feasibility through final designs, and construction services.
  • Identify appropriate resources and skill sets to achieve project objectives as well as manage contract terms, track and manage costs and schedule, and implement measures necessary to stay on schedule and within budget.
  • Lead by example by proactively following internal policies and practices, including risk management, project management, and quality management.
  • Promote collaboration and teamwork across business lines and geographies.

Requirements

  • Strongly prefer candidates to be located in Chicago and/or possess demonstrated community relationship and partnerships in Illinois.

Qualifications

  • Responsible for managing and delivering successful projects in our transportation business line.
  • Ability to interact internally throughout the organization with staff at all levels as well as externally with clients, members of business and professional organizations, subcontractors, and other firms.
  • Motivated, energetic team player who wants to challenge their abilities in a dynamic work environment.
  • Ability to thrive on collaboration with cross-functional teams and a client-focused environment across a broad range of project sectors.

Skills

  • Education and Experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related field required.
    • Master’s degree in Structural Engineering preferred.
    • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Illinois or the ability to become licensed within 90 days of employment.
    • Licensed Structural Engineer (SE) preferred.
    • Minimum of 5 years of related experience is required.

Pay

$117,800.00 - $176,800.00 Annually
