Bridge Designer 4-6 Years - Structural

About the role

KPFF is looking for full-time structural engineering professionals for our Greater Los Angeles Structural office. We are seeking a highly motivated person with a passion for engineering excellence, and eager to develop design and project management skills. This position will provide the opportunity to work for a variety of public and private clients on all types of projects through planning, design, permitting and construction. Our work focuses on structural design on infrastructure projects, including bridges, waterfront infrastructure, and other horizontal construction projects on the West Coast region.

Responsibilities

  • Work on a variety of projects including transportation infrastructure, bridges, ports, industrial developments, shipyards, cruise terminals, small boat harbors and marinas, railway infrastructure, and water treatment infrastructure.
  • Provide structural design services for all types of projects.
  • Collaborate with clients and project team members to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Prepare structural engineering documents and specifications for projects.
  • Read redlines and modify drawings accurately.
  • Work on performance-based seismic design, non-linear push-over analysis, and soil-structure interaction analysis.
  • Use software such as SAP2000, L-Pile, CSI Bridge, MS Excel, and VBA.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4-6 years of structural design experience with a PE in the State of California or ability to get reciprocity.
  • B.S. in Civil Engineering (with a structural emphasis).
  • M.S in Civil Engineering preferred (with a structural emphasis).
  • EIT is required.
  • Bridge design experience.
  • Congrete, steel, and timber coursework and/or design experience.
  • Pre-stressed concrete and seismic coursework and/or design experience.
  • Knowledge of AASHTO, ASCE7, ASCE61-14, IBC, AISC, ACI and NDS.
  • Ability to work dynamically with clients and project team members.
  • An interest in working on a wide variety of non-building related project types.

Qualifications

Pay

The Pay Range is $90,000-$100,000 salary depending on education, experience, and licensure.

Schedule

This is an Exempt employment position, all overtime hours are paid at an hourly rate. The work schedule is 2 days per week in the office and a hybrid schedule of 2 days per week in the office may be accommodated following a satisfactory training period.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Duties are performed in a normal office environment while sitting at a desk or computer table. Duties require the ability to actively engage with a computer for several hours per day. May occasionally need to lift items up to 15 lbs. Duties require in-person attendance, Monday through Friday, during our business hours of 8 AM to 5 PM at our office in Downtown Los Angeles for the training period. Following a satisfactory training period a hybrid schedule of 2 days per week in the office may be accommodated.
