Bridge Construction Inspector
About the role
Serve as AECOM's sole on-site construction inspection representative, acting as the primary point of contact for daily field activities. Independently perform construction inspection for a three-span bridge project located within an active surface mining facility. Monitor contractor operations to verify compliance with project plans, specifications, contract documents, and quality standards. Exercise sound judgment in the field while identifying issues, documenting findings, and coordinating resolutions with project stakeholders. Maintain regular communication with AECOM project managers and client representatives, providing timely updates on construction progress, schedule, and potential concerns. Prepare comprehensive daily inspection reports, photographs, quantity documentation, and project records. Verify materials, workmanship, and completed quantities for payment and acceptance. Observe concrete placement, reinforcing steel installation, structural steel erection, foundations, drainage structures, and other bridge construction activities. Participate in project meetings and effectively communicate inspection findings and recommendations. Utilize electronic inspection and reporting systems to maintain accurate project documentation. Follow all project safety requirements, including mine site regulations and MSHA requirements.

Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent plus eight (8) years of relevant bridge, structural, or heavy civil construction inspection experience, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- Valid driver's license with a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
Qualifications
- Current MSHA Part 48 Surface Metal/Nonmetal Miner Training certification or ability to obtain it prior to starting work.
- Experience performing construction inspection on bridge, roadway, or heavy civil infrastructure projects.
- Experience working on projects for ADOT or other state or local transportation agencies.
- Knowledge of bridge construction methods, including reinforced concrete, structural steel, deep foundations, drainage structures, and earthwork.
- Professional certifications such as ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I, NICET, or other construction inspection certifications.
- Experience working within active industrial, mining, or heavy construction environments while adhering to rigorous safety standards.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing daily inspection reports, documenting quantities, maintaining project records, and effectively communicating with contractors, clients, and project teams.

Pay
$45 to $57 hourly.
Schedule
The initial assignment is anticipated to run from August 2026 through July 2027, with the potential for extension and opportunities to support additional bridge and transportation projects throughout Arizona.
