Breeding Manager (KH-11348)

About the role

The Breeding Manager oversees daily reproductive activities and supports the dairy's overall herd performance goals.

Responsibilities

• Perform artificial insemination on cows and heifers
• Administer synchronization and hormone protocols
• Maintain heat detection systems
• Ensure all breeding activities are completed according to established procedures
• Select and handle semen
• Maintain proper storage and thawing procedures
• Enter accurate breeding records into DairyComp and other herd management systems
• Work closely with herd management and the veterinarian to monitor reproductive performance
• Evaluate breeding outcomes and make recommendations to improve conception rates and herd efficiency
• Paint and monitor heifers for heat detection
• Administer Lutalyse and GnRH injections
• Utilize CIDRs as needed
• Assist with pregnancy checks using ultrasound

Qualifications

• Strong artificial insemination (AI) breeding experience required
• Experience administering reproductive protocols, including Lutalyse, GnRH, and CIDR programs
• Familiarity with heat detection systems such as SCR or similar technologies
• Experience performing pregnancy checks using ultrasound preferred
• Basic computer skills with experience entering and maintaining accurate records in herd management software
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established breeding protocols
• Spanish-speaking ability preferred but not required

Pay

$75,000 - $90,000 annually
