Adagio Health is seeking a full-time Breastfeeding Peer Counselor for its Armstrong County office.

About the Role

Breastfeeding Peer Counselors at Adagio Health are part of the WIC team, focusing on supporting and educating pregnant and breastfeeding participants. With personal breastfeeding experience and additional training, you’ll help answer questions, provide counseling during WIC appointments, document interactions, and distribute breast pumps or supplies to those in need.

Veterans are strongly encouraged to apply. Military roles such as Hospital Corpsman (Navy), Health Care Specialist (Army), Family Readiness Support Assistant, Mental Health Technician, or Community Services Coordinator align closely with this position. Transferable skills include:

  • Peer counseling and mentorship (e.g., family support programs, resiliency training, or battle buddy systems)
  • Patient education and health promotion (common in medical, public health, or preventive medicine roles)
  • Logistical coordination (e.g., managing supplies, organizing outreach, or facilitating resource distribution)
  • Crisis management and compassionate communication (roles requiring empathy under pressure)

Responsibilities

  • Provide breastfeeding education and support to pregnant and breastfeeding WIC participants
  • Counsel participants during WIC appointments
  • Document interactions and follow-ups
  • Distribute breast pumps and supplies as needed
  • Travel as required

Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  • Successful and comfortable personal breastfeeding experience with your own child/children
  • Some travel is required
