About the role

AstraZeneca seeks a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) or Senior MSL to join its Breast Oncology team. This role serves as the local medical voice of AstraZeneca, focusing on improving patient care and outcomes in the designated territory.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a tailored strategy to meet AstraZeneca’s US Medical Market Access (USMA) priorities in the disease area, as well as local specificities and patient needs.
  • Build strong working relationships with various external business settings such as academia, hospitals, managed markets, and private practices.
  • Lead scientific exchanges with oncologists and key members of the multidisciplinary team (MDT).
  • Facilitate peer-to-peer scientific/medical interactions and gather insights on the treatment landscape, evolving healthcare environment, and barriers to optimal treatment and patient care.
  • Discuss data and educational gaps with key opinion leaders (KOLs) to ensure adequate use of AZ medicines and to inform R&D strategies addressing patient needs.
  • Stay updated with scientific knowledge and attend relevant scientific meetings and conferences.
  • Collaborate with Clinical Operations on trials from feasibility to execution.

Requirements

  • Advanced scientific degree in a relevant health science or clinical discipline (Pharm D, MD/DO, PhD, PA, or NP).
  • Extensive scientific and clinical expertise in the therapeutic area.
  • Ability to communicate complex scientific content clearly in written and verbal formats.
  • Experience in a matrixed environment.
  • At least 2 years of MSL experience or relevant therapeutic area experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in discussing scientific content and context with multiple audiences.
  • Strong understanding of clinical study design and protocols.
  • Broad understanding of the healthcare system, clinical trial methodology, and regulatory environment.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Ability to travel frequently (40-60% by car, train, and plane domestically).

Qualifications
