About the role
The Hartford HealthCare Cancer Institute, part of Hartford HealthCare, is seeking a medical oncologist with a specialization in breast cancer to join their team. Located at Hartford Hospital, a 867-bed tertiary care center, this opportunity is part of a planned expansion of the cancer center.
Responsibilities
- See over 600 new cases of breast cancer annually as part of a multi-disciplinary team including breast surgeons, medical and radiation oncologists, pathologists, radiologists, reconstructive surgeons, genetic counselors, and nurse navigators.
- Participate in formal programs in survivorship, high-risk care, patient education, and breast rehabilitation services.
- Engage in clinical trial and health disparities research, collaborating with MSK and being a main member of SWOG and NRG.
- Teach, conduct clinical research, and participate in quality/outcomes research.
- Collaborate with the Breast DMT, which oversees quality, research, and innovative program development in breast cancer across the 7-hospital healthcare system.
- Attend the weekly Hartford Hospital Breast Tumor Board meetings to discuss patient management.
- Work with hospitalist teams to cover inpatient care and provide medical oncology consults.
Requirements
Demonstrated experience practicing within a multidisciplinary team model of care for breast patients. Academic accomplishment in clinical trials or quality improvement is highly desirable. Board certified in Hematology & Oncology and eligible for licensure in the State of Connecticut.
