About the role
Transform healthcare by diagnosing and treating human disease, illness and injuries while practicing evidence-based medicine. Prescribe medically necessary medications and treatments. Serve on various Carilion and/or hospital committees. Complete necessary documentation for patients' health information records. Deliver high-quality, compassionate medical care.
Responsibilities
- Examine patients using various medical equipment, instruments and tests.
- Order or perform various tests, analyses and imaging to provide information on patients' conditions.
- Diagnose patients' conditions based on examination, test and report results.
- Prescribe and administer drugs, treatments and vaccinations.
- May perform perinatal care, deliveries, surgeries and related invasive procedures.
- Work closely with case management, nursing, and the medical staff to ensure appropriate patient plans and care coordination.
- Support Joint Commission continuous readiness and compliance.
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives.
- Conduct, cooperate, support and collaborate on basic and clinical research.
- Supervise medical treatment of patients.
- Teach and mentor others.
Requirements
This position requires a strong commitment to patient care, evidence-based medicine, and professional development. Candidates must have a medical degree from an accredited institution, be licensed to practice medicine in the United States, and possess relevant experience.
