Responsibilities
- Provide onsite breast imaging radiology services to VA patients
- Interpret and report on:
- Mammography
- Breast ultrasound
- Breast MRI
- Perform and/or guide diagnostic breast imaging procedures
- Identify, evaluate, and diagnose breast abnormalities, including malignancies
- Review imaging orders and next-day cases as needed (minimum 2 hours daily when required)
- Provide clinical consultation to referring providers regarding imaging results and care plans
- Communicate test results to patients and providers per VHA Directive 1088
- Participate in post-procedure follow-up and complication management
- Document all care in the VA Electronic Health Record (EHR) in compliance with VA policy
- Participate in Quality Improvement (QI) and Quality Assurance (QA) activities
- Attend required:
- Quality Improvement Committee meetings (quarterly)
- Service leadership or staff meetings (monthly or as directed)
- Complete peer reviews (approximately 4 hours per month)
- Maintain compliance with:
- Patient safety standards
- Infection control requirements
- Privacy and HIPAA regulations
- Active, full, and unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state or territory
- Board Certified in Radiology by the American Board of Radiology (ABR)
- NPI report printout
- Active AHA BLS and ACLS
- Active DEA license
- Must be able to pass a federal background investigation
