Responsibilities
- Helps develop and manage the care pathway for breast service patients in conjunctions with referring/treating physician(s).
- Manage Pathology records as directed by Breast Center protocols.
- Collaborates in the development and monitoring of a measurement system, which ensures that services are performing within defined standards (EDGE Quality Initiatives)
- Provides education and support to the patient and their family.
- Identifies and develops resources to meet the educational and psychological needs of the breast center patients.
- Works collaboratively with the breast center team (physicians, radiologists, oncologist, pathologists, etc.)
- Demonstrates the ability to articulate the breast center services philosophy in a positive manner to health care providers and to the public.
- Develops a presence in the professional and general public to ensure high visibility of TOPS Comprehensive Breast Center for the breast care services.
- Serves on committees of Breast Center
- Serves as a constant contact for patient/family throughout the process of diagnosis and treatment.
- When necessary or needed, coordinates appointments for consultations and physicians visits.
- Maintains two-way communication with physician offices in order to improve the process of coordinating care for the breast center patients.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Nursing Degree Preferred, RN
- Nurse License by Texas Board of Nursing
- 3-5 years of acute clinical experience in nursing specifically related to plastics, oncology or generalized breast health
- CPR Certification
- CBPN-C, CBCN, or OCN certification
