Our facility in Britt, Iowa is an egg processing plant specializing in breaking, pasteurization, and dried egg production. Britt is known for having more eggs produced within a 100-mile radius than anywhere else in the world.

Responsibilities

  • Perform rotation of all general production and labor duties in the breaking department.
  • Prevent bad eggs from contaminating finished products and ensure quality of eggs entering the breaking room.
  • Remove all yolk from whites to ensure a high-quality product during the separation process.
  • Maintain machine operation at top production speeds and follow daily responsibilities (whole egg vs. separating).
  • Follow USDA regulations and check cleanliness, air pressure, water pressure, chemical levels, and flat fullness continuously during each shift.
  • Safely lift, carry, and dump 30-50 lbs. buckets into augers.
  • Rotate with floor personnel as needed and maintain a safe and healthy workplace for everyone.
  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, incorporating safety and health into all tasks.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), maintain sanitary conditions, and ensure product quality.
  • Report any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety and quality to management.
  • Work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed; willingness to travel and work at multiple locations.
  • Correctly clean, dry, and tag flats; haul racks and stackers; tie and pick up materials neatly in proper amounts and heights.
  • Dump inedible buckets from machines after shift cleanup.
  • Ensure ARUs are set up for production and communicate with supervisors, maintenance, and operators about safety, maintenance, or production issues.
  • Assist breaker operators and ensure proper rotation of shell egg inventory (FIFO).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Less than high school education.
  • Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and recognize similarities and differences between words and series of numbers.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers.
  • Capability to apply common sense understanding to carry out oral instructions.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously (e.g., tripping cups, cleaning whites).
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others to complete assignments.
  • Openness to change and positive interpersonal relationships.
  • Able to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Self-motivated while willing to ask questions and seek direction.
  • Displays responsible behavior at work.

Physical Requirements

  • Capable of safely lifting 75 lbs. on occasion.
  • Ability to work in cold, wet, noisy, dusty, and humid environments.
  • Ability to tolerate constant motion and climb/move in tight spaces.
  • Ability to work in high humidity and around USDA-required cleaning solutions.
  • Free of breathing/asthmatic conditions (dusty and aromatic conditions prevail).
  • Good hand-eye coordination.
