Breakfast Server - Spartanburg Marriott

About the Role

We’re looking for enthusiastic, fun, and energetic people who take the work seriously, but not themselves. Servers will be responsible for the dining experience, including greeting guests, serving them in a gracious and professional manner that represents the highest standards to ensure exceptional service consistent with Marriott’s brand under the Mainsail franchise.

Requirements

• High school diploma, equivalent, or higher
• Previous experience in hospitality, preferably as a server
• Excellent customer service skills
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to use technology (e.g., tablets, iPads, computers, and POS systems)
• Beverage knowledge, including wine and liquor
• Ability to work on a team with Front of House staff
• Proven experience in describing dishes and beverages to guests
• Ability to handle station and work in a clean, organized, and efficient manner
• A sense of ownership in everything you do

Responsibilities

• Serve guests in an efficient and courteous manner following proper steps of service
• Set up tables with items needed for service (e.g., flatware, drinkware, condiments, linens)
• Maintain knowledge of current menu items, including ingredients, preparation, accompaniments, and sauces
• Bus tables quickly and quietly, ensuring tables are thoroughly cleaned
• Upsell menu items to guests, including pairing wine with meals
• Ensure guest tables are properly set up during meal periods with appropriate flatware and drinkware
• Participate in daily cleaning of the dining room and service stations
• Attend monthly department meetings and daily standups
• Follow cash handling procedures and explain shortages or overages
• Perform other necessary duties as reasonably assigned
