About the role

The Edwin is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Server. Our restaurant, bar, and speakeasy are gathering places where guests and locals connect over great food and drink, delivered with warmth and genuine hospitality. This role involves engaging with guests, managing reservations, and ensuring a seamless dining experience.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests warmly upon arrival and manage reservations and waitlists.
• Assign sections and notify servers of new seats to ensure prompt and proper attention.
• Maintain a visible presence in the restaurant to assist servers, respond to customer requests, and assess operation efficiency.
• Process transactions on a cash register, count change out loud, and verify accuracy of guest checks.
• Elicit feedback from departing customers and distribute and account for all checks issued.
• Balance and reconcile reports at the end of each shift and report discrepancies to management.
• Ensure the proper setup of tables and seating before opening and report any maintenance or housekeeping issues to management.
• Communicate effectively with guests and restaurant team members, accommodating special requests and needs.
• Communicate verbally and in writing in English, follow written and verbal instruction, and work on multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Handle coins, writing utensils, grasp handles, push buttons, and lift and carry trays and bus tubs weighing up to 10 lbs.
• Stand throughout the shift and lift arms above head to retrieve objects from shelves.
• Communicate clearly and professionally, handle stressful and emotionally charged situations, and maintain a friendly and cheerful demeanor.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience of 3 months in a position with heavy cash handling responsibilities and customer service exposure.
• Mathematical aptitude and knowledge of standard cash handling procedures and computerized cash register systems.
• General knowledge of customer service skills, restaurant operations, and food service principles.
