About the role
The Richardson Hotel is seeking a Breakfast Cook to start guests' day off right. Key responsibilities include preparing breakfast items to order, maintaining a clean and organized kitchen, and assisting with prep and inventory.
Responsibilities
- Prepare hot, delicious breakfast items to order (eggs, pancakes, omelettes, breakfast sandwiches)
- Follow recipes, portioning, and food-safety guidelines
- P plate quickly and attractively during busy morning service
- Maintain a clean, organized kitchen
- Assist with prep and inventory
Requirements
- Available early mornings and can work weekends/holidays
- Previous line-cook or breakfast-cook experience preferred
- Works quickly, stays calm under pressure, cares about food quality
Qualifications
- High School diploma / Secondary qualification or equivalent
- Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace
- Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process
- Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written
- Must possess basic computational ability
- Ability to read recipes and follow their instructions
- Ability to physically self-demonstrate culinary techniques, i.e., cutting, cooking principles, plate presentation, safety and sanitation practices
- Ability to create appropriate buffet displays up to 5-6 feet in height and the ability to set up, maintain and breakdown same
Skills
- Food handler's certificate required
- Ability to work in extreme temperatures like freezers (-10 degrees F) and kitchens (+110 degrees F), possible for one hour or more
- Standing and exerting well-paced mobility for up to 4 hours in length
- Handling knives, pots, mirrors, or other display items as well as grasping, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds to every area of the kitchen
- Using and operating various kitchen machinery to include slickers, buffalo chopper, grinders, mixers, and other kitchen related equipment
- Creating, building, handling, and dismantling displays up to 8 feet high, including ice carvings
