Position Summary
The Breakfast Cook is responsible for preparing and presenting high-quality breakfast items for hotel guests while maintaining Hilton standards for food quality, cleanliness, and guest satisfaction. This position plays a key role in delivering an exceptional breakfast experience through efficient food preparation, timely service, and adherence to food safety standards.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook breakfast menu items, including eggs, omelets, breakfast meats, potatoes, pancakes, waffles, pastries, and other breakfast specialties.
- Ensure all food is prepared according to recipes, portion standards, and presentation guidelines.
- Maintain proper cooking temperatures and food safety standards.
- Replenish food stations and buffet offerings as needed during service.
- Provide a welcoming and professional guest experience.
- Accommodate special dietary requests when possible and communicate food allergies or restrictions to leadership.
- Maintain a positive attitude while interacting with guests and team members.
- Demonstrate Hilton's commitment to hospitality and guest satisfaction.
- Prepare ingredients and complete mise en place prior to breakfast service.
- Aid with inventory control and stock rotation using FIFO procedures.
- Properly receive, store, label, and date food products.
- Notify management of product shortages or maintenance concerns.
Sanitation & Safety
- Follow Hilton, Chartwell Hospitality, and local health department food safety regulations.
- Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized work area at all times.
- Properly clean and store kitchen equipment, utensils, and workstations.
- Adhere to all workplace safety policies and procedures.
Teamwork
- Support other culinary and restaurant team members as business needs require.
- Assist with banquet, lunch, dinner, or special event preparation when assigned.
- Participate in team meetings and ongoing training programs.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
Qualifications
- Previous cooking or food preparation experience preferred.
- Ability to work early morning shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen equipment.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Preferred: Hotel, restaurant, or breakfast service experience.
- Food Handler Certification or ability to obtain certification.
- Experience working in a Hilton or full-service hotel setting.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach, push, and pull.
- Ability to work in hot, cold, and fast-paced kitchen environments.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to safely operate commercial kitchen equipment.
