About the role

King Arthur Baking Company is a baking resource that brings education, inspiration, and high-quality products to bakers. We're headquartered in Norwich, Vermont, and our superior flours and mixes are available in supermarkets nationwide. We also offer a direct-to-consumer business through our website and retail stores, which features a wide selection of specialty baking ingredients, mixes, gluten-free products, baking tools, and more. We provide baking education through cookbooks, podcasts, recipe apps, websites, and a baking school. Responsibilities

  • Bake from scratch production of all artisan breads, including baguettes, hearth baked bread, sourdough, rolls, and pan loaves using commercial baking equipment.
  • Contribute to the improvement of bakery operations by participating in product development, menu planning, and staying updated with baking trends and innovations.
  • Complete bakery administration tasks as necessary, such as product ordering and assisting in monitoring inventory.
  • Work cross-functionally with departments in the facility and companywide.
  • Participate in professional development as recommended by leadership or self-directed.
  • Sustain a clean work environment and adhere to food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Assist in training interns and new bakers.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years baking experience, preferably in a professional baking environment.
  • Demonstrated ability in consistently producing exceptional baked products.
  • Demonstrated ability in proficiency and accuracy with mixing dough, shaping, and baking bread.

  • Able to follow formulas and instructions accurately.
  • Possesses a sense of planning and preparation for the day ahead.
  • Keeps tasks on point and on time.
  • Ability to study formulas, choose exact ingredients, and scale correctly.
  • Multitasking: Demonstrated ability to multitask and effectively share space, ingredients, and equipment with coworkers during production.
  • Able to juggle competing demands and prioritize without sacrificing quality.
  • Communication and collaboration: Ability to inform others of what is happening in the bakery, effectively listen and respect others' viewpoints, and be receptive to feedback.
  • Participates in team problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Effectively works with coworkers to achieve common goals.
  • Ask for help when needed.
  • Reliability: Punctuality and consistency in attendance. Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

  • Standing, walking, and frequently lifting up to 10 hours a day.
  • Lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Operating commercial bakery equipment.
  • Fast-paced bakery environment.
  • Exposure to hot temperatures and loud environment.
  • Understanding that safety is the responsibility of everyone at the organization.
  • Engages in safety and compliance training programs and encourages 100% team participation in same.

Pay

$19.64 to $22.14 per hour worked; commensurate with experience.
