About the role

Forward Financing is a financial technology company based in Boston, Massachusetts with team members throughout the United States, Dominican Republic, and Canada. The company is on a mission to unlock the capital that fuels small businesses across America. Recognized as a Best Place to Work by Built In Boston and certified as a Great Place To Work®, Forward is investing in its employees, technology, and customer experience – with long-term success in mind every step of the way. We are seeking a versatile and driven Brand Marketing Specialist to join our Marketing team and support the execution of our brand, communications, and content programs.

Responsibilities

  • Social Media Planning & Coordination
    • Manage the day-to-day execution of Forward's monthly editorial calendar across owned social channels, including scheduling, publishing, and community monitoring.
    • Develop and recommend content strategies based on performance data and platform insights, helping shape what we post and why.
    • Write and produce social copy and content across channels, from caption writing to short-form posts, adapting tone to platform and audience.
    • Leverage generative AI to research, develop, and refine diverse assets—such as video, infographics, and data-driven one-pagers—to drive the execution of our editorial roadmap.
    • Track social media KPIs and compile recurring performance reports with insights and recommendations.
  • Event Support & Coordination
    • Care for logistics for industry events, partner events, and sponsorships — including planning timelines, vendor management, materials, and on-site or virtual execution.
    • Support pre- and post-event marketing including promotion, follow-up communications, and recap reporting.
    • Manage branded merchandise and swag programs end-to-end: sourcing vendors, coordinating production, tracking inventory, and fulfilling distribution for events and partner programs.
  • Channel Enablement
    • Partner with sales teams to support new partner and business development efforts, including drafting messaging around competitive differentiation, partnership benefits, and Forward's strategic positioning.
    • Help develop self-serve tools and resources for partners, and support identification of the best delivery methods for maximum reach — including digital portals, newsletters, and other channels.
    • Support the sales team with onboarding materials, training content, and other collateral that builds Forward's credibility and attracts new partners.
  • PR & External Communications
    • Support the execution of Forward's PR strategy, including drafting press releases, media pitches, briefing documents, award submissions, and executive talking points.
    • Care with external PR agencies on deliverables, timelines, and media opportunities.
    • Maintain media lists, coverage trackers, and PR measurement reporting.
  • Government Affairs Support
    • Partner with the government affairs team to support customer advocacy programs, including sourcing and coordinating customer stories.
    • Aid with earned and paid media opportunities that build positive category support for revenue-based financing.
  • Marketing Operations & Administration
    • Build, document, and share AI-assisted workflows that help the broader marketing team work faster without sacrificing brand quality.
    • Maintain marketing operations hygiene: content calendars, asset libraries, project trackers, and process documentation.
    • Submit materials for legal review, process vendor invoices, and coordinate with Finance on budget tracking and purchase orders.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in brand marketing, communications, content marketing, or a related role.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills with the ability to adapt tone across channels (social, PR, partner, and executive communications).
  • Demonstrated, hands-on experience using generative AI tools in real marketing workflows, including strong prompting skills.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple workstreams and deadlines.
  • Collaborative, low-ego working style and comfort partnering across teams (sales, government affairs, agencies, and leadership).
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to brand consistency.
  • Proficiency in social scheduling platforms (e.g., Sprout Social, Hootsuite, or similar) and design tools such as Canva for content production and asset creation.

Qualifications

  • Nice to have:
    • Experience in fintech, financial services, or another regulated industry.
    • Exposure to PR agency management or media relations.
    • Familiarity with government affairs, public policy, or advocacy communications.
    • Event planning or trade show coordination experience.
    • Working knowledge of tools such as social scheduling platforms, project management tools (e.g., ClickUp, Monday, Jira), a CMS (e.g., WordPress), and design tools (e.g., Figma).
    • Portfolio of past work applicable to this role.
    • Experience building or documenting AI workflows, custom GPTs/agents, or prompt libraries for a team.
