Branch Operations Director - Hospice

About the role

This position is responsible for the daily operation/management of the branch, to include staffing and fiscal responsibility. Leads efforts to ensure operational efficiencies, streamlining processes where possible. Ensures branch office meets all federal, state and local requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the management staff in developing and working from a business plan that focuses on all aspects of branch office operations, including setting priorities and job assignments.
  • Makes sure each department’s activities are monitored, policies are communicated, performance is evaluated, feedback is provided, and assistance, observation, and discipline are given as needed.
  • Creates an environment that fosters creativity, problem-solving, and empowerment in the development of a branch office management team.
  • Oversees regular rounds to monitor nursing care delivery, support department operations, cleanliness, staff morale, and patient needs.
  • Exhibits positive customer service to both internal and external customers through ongoing support and implementation of customer service initiatives and business objectives.
  • Utilizes survey information to address areas of importance as defined by customers.
  • Ensures consultants and other support resources are appropriately utilized and maintains a high level of interdepartmental teamwork.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of and ensures compliance with all governmental regulations.
  • Implements effective processes to maintain employee requirements, effective communication, and timely and accurate reporting.
  • Encourages growth, employee morale, and staff retention.
  • Partners with Human Resources and Talent Acquisition to ensure timely hiring and onboarding of staff, timely resolution of employee complaints/concerns, and guidance in addressing employee relations issues.
  • Manages branch office budgets and business practices to include labor costs, payables, and receivables. Monitors business activities to ensure procedures and standards are followed, appropriate handling of funds, and sound credible business practices are always followed.
  • Communicates budget guidelines and expectations to department managers. Meets established budget and Accounts Receivable goals as developed by department supervisor.
  • Develops and implements a growth strategy for the branch office that reflects service opportunities, competition, potential market changes, and which maximizes census, payor mix, and ancillary revenues.
  • Leads and monitors key staff and branch office staff to play an active role in carrying out the growth plan.
  • Takes initiative in evaluating, developing, and implementing new business opportunities that meet the needs of the community and benefit the branch office/HHC/SVH.
  • Develops positive relationships on behalf of the HHC/SVH with government regulators, patients, families, area health care, physicians, and the community at large.
  • Acts as a resource of information to the community related to health care issues.
  • Complies with, supports, and enforces HHC/SVH policies involving all safety and infection control procedures.
  • Promotes and understands of and compliance with all rules regarding patient's rights; promotes positive relationships with patients, visitors, and regulators.
  • Supervises, conducts, and participates in department and branch office education activities and staff meetings.
  • Utilizes the quality improvement process in all areas of branch office operation.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Minimum 1 year hospice experience
  • Minimum 1 year business development experience
  • Must have valid drivers license and auto insurance
  • Working knowledge in Microsoft Word and Excel software
  • Attention to detail in composing, typing, and proofing materials
  • Excellent spelling, grammar, and written communication skills
  • Excellent telephone and oral communications skills
  • Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality
  • Ability to respond in a professional manner to Supervisor, Patients, Families, Business Associates, and the General Public
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Must have reliable transportation
