About the Role
Responsible for the administration and efficient daily operation of a branch. Provides leadership, training, and supervision for branch staff and may assist with lower-level management of other branches within the area. Responsible for meeting established goals according to the Strategic Plan. Develops new business, deepens member relationships, provides superior member service, and promotes the service culture through coaching, guidance, and staff motivation.
Responsibilities
- Provides coaching, development, training, and feedback for branch staff.
- Effectively hires, on-boards, and meets with branch employees to review their development progress.
- Shares knowledge with branch employees on effective practices, competitive intelligence, business opportunities, and acts as a subject matter expert.
- Sets expectations, leads people to perform, and utilizes reports and tools to identify opportunities to meet the strategic plan.
- Fosters a service culture by setting performance expectations and emphasizing member service through daily tasks, staff meetings, and training sessions.
- Ensures service delivery is expedient, accurate, professional, and courteous.
- Maximizes member advocacy by resolving inquiries and issues at the point of contact.
- Provides leadership for escalated member and employee issues and shares knowledge with other branches.
- Identifies sales opportunities, deepens member relationships, and meets established sales and budget goals according to the Strategic Plan.
- Actively promotes the marketing of products and services and ensures compliance with policies and procedures.
- Understands the competitive environment and develops strategies to capture market share.
- Holds lower-level management accountable for branch performance results.
- Ensures overall operational soundness of the branch, identifying and driving efficiencies, expense management, and audit controls.
- Proactively manages branch workflow through continual observation and analysis.
- Effectively manages staff, resources, systems, and services to optimize time and capitalize on efficiencies.
- Completes any other job-related duties needed to help drive the organization’s vision, fulfill its purpose, and abide by its values.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of five years of financial institution experience and at least three years of management experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience in cash operations, sales, and management, with the ability to work both cash handling and member service tasks.
- Advanced knowledge of PCs, Microsoft applications, and various office automation software.
- Must complete federal registration as a Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) within 180 days of employment, as required by the S.A.F.E. Act, and maintain active registration while in this role.
- Must comply with all S.A.F.E. Act requirements, including updating the Registry with significant changes within 30 days.
- Must pass a background check against the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) Excluded Parties List (EPL), the HUD Limited Denial of Participation List (LDP List), and the Federal Housing Finance Agency’s (FHFA) Suspended Counterparty Program (SCP) list within 180 days of employment and maintain compliance with subsequent checks.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Management, or a related area preferred.
- Comprehensive knowledge of current federal, state, and NCUA regulations applicable to the credit union environment.
- Understanding of the business needs of financial institutions or credit unions.
- Extensive business background with mentor-level leadership skills and experience.
- Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills to resolve complex member and employee issues.
- Sensitivity to credit union needs, member and employee goodwill, and public image in unique situations.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills to manage, motivate, and develop branch employees.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and a high degree of accuracy.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
