Branch Manager Trainee position in Carrollton, TX.
About the role
The Branch Manager Trainee takes direction from multiple sources to learn all aspects of branch operations and the Branch Manager position. This includes shadowing or fulfilling duties of each role within the branch, with the goal of graduating to the Branch Manager role. The trainee is a strong team player, results-oriented, with a dedication to excellence and a sense of urgency to achieve business objectives. An online assessment is required for consideration.
Responsibilities
- Help the branch build sales, including new business, by maintaining house accounts through active dealer communication about new product launches, services, supplies, prices, and promotions via outbound calls and in-person discussions.
- Conduct outbound calls to existing and lost customer accounts.
- Maintain sales programs within assigned territory by keeping customers informed about available services, supplies, prices, and new products.
- Provide excellent customer service via walk-ins, phone calls, and emails.
- Execute all aspects of the sales function, including order processing, purchase orders, payment processing, quotes, and delivery dates, ensuring accuracy of information.
- Periodically reach out to customers to determine satisfaction with the organization, products, and services.
- Maintain records and prepare reports on sales activities and manage inventory levels.
- Expand knowledge of HVAC products and stay current with industry trends.
- Learn the roles and responsibilities of all branch functions, including:
- CSRs/Inside Sales Representatives: Face-to-face customer interaction, completing transactions using Mincron, etc.
- Warehouse Associates: Safely operate a forklift, proper loading/unloading and stacking techniques, filling customer orders (Will Call), etc.
- Drivers: Delivery process, documentation procedures, DOT regulations, and internal safety protocols.
- Branch Manager: Employee relations, timekeeping, inventory control, asset protection, etc.
- Work positively with all levels of management and peers to ensure effective teamwork and high service levels.
- Ensure the branch showroom, warehouse, and counter are adequately stocked, cleaned, organized, and free of safety hazards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business (preferred fields: Business, Sales, HVAC-related) or equivalent experience.
- 1–3 years of experience in customer service, retail, or HVAC preferred.
- Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to learn and demonstrate full branch operations within 8–12 months and transition into a Branch Manager role.
- High-quality customer service and relationship management skills via walk-ins, phone, and email.
- Positive, professional attitude with the ability to handle difficult customers and diffuse negative situations.
- Strong rapport-building, listening, and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Effective organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to establish positive working relationships with internal and external customers and employees.
- Ability to develop leadership skills, including delegation, performance management, and personnel development.
- Good judgment, strong work ethic, and integrity.
- Knowledge of HVAC equipment/products is preferred.
- Ability to assist in the warehouse, operate a forklift safely, and follow procedures, work instructions, and company policies.
