About the Role

The Branch Manager III supports the Retail Area Manager, ensuring branch operational activities run smoothly and efficiently. This role provides leadership, training, and supervision within the branch, promotes business growth through customer relations, and assists in attaining Bank and branch goals via sales management and officer call programs. The Branch Manager oversees staff, coordinates branch operations, and ensures adherence to Bank policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and supports all assigned areas of branch operations, including tellers, couriers, new accounts, and other personnel; opens and closes the branch.
  • Reinforces superior customer service through example, follow-through, and staff training; conducts meetings on customer service standards.
  • Responds to customer inquiries or refers them to appropriate personnel; ensures follow-through with customers and staff.
  • Ensures audit compliance and quality control; conducts unannounced audits of branch cash funds and ensures compliance with Bank policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Maintains a positive sales environment by educating staff on Bank products and services; monitors cross-selling efforts and organizes branch resources for maximum results.
  • Contributes to branch profitability through cost controls, income generation, loan growth, deposit growth, and marketing efforts.
  • Applies sound decision-making techniques for inquiries, approvals, and requests within assigned limits; uses these instances for employee development.
  • Oversees all branch lending functions, including origination, processing, documentation, payoffs, and collections.
  • Manages loan reports, including asset classification, nonaccrual, appraiser status, unsecured status, board reports, and credit risk reviews.
  • Performs in-house appraisals of re-collateral.
  • Assists other branches with operational inquiries and staff support; participates in internal committees as assigned.
  • Ensures accurate completion of operational reports and internal documentation.
  • Develops and grows branch staff through communication, delegation, and cross-training.
  • Performs personnel actions, including performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, interviewing candidates, and scheduling staff.
  • Ensures compliance with security precautions to protect customer deposits, bank assets, and staff.
  • May perform teller, vault teller, new account, utility specialist, and safe deposit duties as needed.
  • Conducts construction loan inspections.
  • Processes complex customer transactions, resolves problems, and answers inquiries within given authority.
  • Operates computer systems to process account activity, determine balances, and resolve issues.
  • Answers telephones, directs callers to appropriate personnel, and maintains advanced knowledge of the financial industry.
  • Completes annual compliance courses and adheres to corporate policies, federal and state regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act and Anti-Money Laundering Act.
  • Adheres to Service Excellence standards and performs other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or related field, or equivalent work experience (15+ years of management experience).
  • Educational experience through in-house training, formal schooling, or financial industry-related curriculum.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Bank operations, products, services, and related state/federal laws and regulations.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Intermediate computer skills, including mainframe systems, word processing, spreadsheets, and specialty software.
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Qualifications

  • 10-15 years of branch banking/management experience.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, and use hands and fingers.
  • Ability to work required hours and days to complete essential functions.
  • Strong cognitive abilities, including learning, concentration, and problem-solving in a customer relations environment.
  • Ability to interact effectively with co-workers and customers, exercising self-control and diplomacy.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and appropriate judgment.
