About the role

This position has full P&L responsibility and accountability for daily operations at the assigned El Paso location. The Branch Manager provides technical guidance and leadership to both field inspection and laboratory staff, ensuring all operations and laboratory functions run efficiently while achieving revenue, profitability, HSE, and client requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Act as site leader accountable for full Profit & Loss (P&L) and financial performance, including planning, business development, budgeting, customer management, field/lab operations, and site Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental (QHSE) compliance.
  • Oversee personnel decisions, including recruitment, retention, and development of branch employees.
  • Ensure quality performance of the branch through crosscheck, Proficiency Testing Program (PTP), Statistical Quality Control (SQC), and audits.
  • Drive development and optimization of Order Management System and Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) adherence to improve quality, service, and laboratory process management.
  • Promote process efficiency, continuous improvement, and system utilization.
  • Lead client marketing and business development, including customer meetings to establish satisfaction, service levels, and project discussions.
  • Maintain CAPEX and lab instrumentation integrity, maintenance, and utilization.
  • Ensure cost control, adequate resources, PPE, and adherence to preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Maintain Corporate Policy & Procedure adherence and disseminate corporate-level information to all assigned laboratories.
  • Collaborate with Sales/BD and support functions to ensure customer success and quick follow-up.
  • Handle disciplinary matters fairly and consistently while maintaining open communication with Human Resources.
  • Represent Bureau Veritas ethically and ensure business practices meet or exceed company policy and industry standards.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents with HSE Leadership, including root cause analysis and addressing procedure gaps.
  • Manage field operations IFIA/TIC certification process for assigned staff.
  • Supervise overall site operations, including HSE, dispatch, operational coordination, inspection, laboratory operations, and administrative duties.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies, including interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning work, setting goals, appraising performance, and resolving problems.

Requirements

  • Sound knowledge of petroleum and chemical inspection procedures, including preparation and testing of samples according to recognized international standards.
  • Knowledgeable of ISO 17025, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, quality audits, and Proficiency Evaluations.
  • Expertise in Oil & Petrochemical knowledge, including Loss Control, Marine Measurement, Inspection Safety, Sampling, Tank Gauging, Temperature Determination, Metering, and American Petroleum Institute (API) standards.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to plan, multi-task, and manage time effectively in a high-paced environment.
  • Broad experience in inspection-related business and in-depth understanding of operations and customer base.
  • Strong technical knowledge and quality background in commercial laboratories.
  • Strong writing and record-keeping ability for reports and procedures.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS in a scientific discipline, business, economics, occupational safety/health, or related field, or a sufficient combination of experience and education.
  • 5+ years of experience in a leadership role within a laboratory, field services, or quality management environment.
  • 3+ years of experience in the O&P/Energy industry.
  • 3+ years of direct P&L management experience.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with key personnel from executives to analysts.
  • LEAN or Six Sigma certification preferred.
  • International Federation of Inspection Agencies (IFIA) Petroleum Inspector Certified or equivalent experience in Oil & Petrochemical field operations.

Skills

  • Ability to read, interpret, and write routine reports, safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees.
  • Basic mathematical skills for Oil & Petrochemical laboratory and inspection calculations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization and interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Purposeful change management and strong interpersonal skills.

Certificates & Licenses

  • Valid driver’s license required.
