Branch Manager -Cambridge Harvard Square

Hiring range: $59,594 - $95,776. Actual pay may vary based on experience, skills, and market factors; additional compensation may apply.

About the role

In a Retail bank branch, you will proactively sell the bank’s products and services to existing customers and prospects, guide the sales efforts of the platform team, ensure superior customer service levels, and manage the daily operations of a mid-sized banking office.

Responsibilities

• Guide the sales activities of the assistant manager and platform staff toward achievement of their personal sales objectives and established branch goals through coaching sessions.
• Conduct business development activities, including personal visits and outbound teleservicing, to build commercial relationships.
• Promote Eastern Bank through community involvement via memberships in local organizations (e.g., Chamber of Commerce, Rotary) and participation in city/town events.
• Ensure sound branch operations and compliance with all bank policies, regulations, and laws.
• Collaborate with internal business partners (HR, Wealth, Business Banking, Consumer Lending, etc.) to ensure branch success.
• Manage and develop branch staff through observational coaching, joint sales calls, and consultative customer sales tools; lead by example to inspire confidence and loyalty.
• Proactively identify, report, and resolve customer issues to ensure a positive customer experience and manage service standards within the branch.
• Apply policies for routine staff management and address performance issues; prepare and deliver performance appraisals.
• Gain a full understanding of the teller function and make management decisions balancing policy and customer needs with appropriate judgment.

• Ability to quickly learn and retain knowledge of the bank’s products and services.
• Understanding of banking fundamentals (e.g., how a bank makes money, what makes a product profitable).
• Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent combination of training and/or experience.
• 2-3 years of management experience with proven leadership capabilities, preferably in a retail banking environment.
• History of solid sales, service, and management successes.
