About the role
Leads, motivates, and continuously develops a front-line staff to ensure the needs of members, the branch, and the Credit Union are met. Takes ownership of creating an exceptional member experience and passionately develops community awareness through outdoor business development strategies and branch development planning.
Responsibilities
- Serves as ambassador of the Horizon Federal Credit Union (Horizon) brand, demonstrating the Credit Union's mission, vision, and core values in all interactions.
- Ensures operational integrity, including compliance with all policies and procedures.
- Serves as a role model to other employees through words and actions.
- Sets and monitors branch objectives and goals in alignment with the overall credit union plan.
- Leads, coaches, counsels, mentors, and develops the branch team to increase efficiency, enhance productivity, and achieve goals.
- Encourages individual and group input, listens to ideas, and recognizes behaviors aligned with Horizon FCU's mission, vision, and core values.
- Takes ownership of the overall direction and performance of the branch.
- Manages personnel issues, including interviews, hiring, promotions, schedules, performance evaluations, coaching, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
- Reviews and approves employees' timecards for payroll, personal days, vacation, and sick time.
- Maintains comprehensive knowledge of all related products, services, policies, procedures, and regulations, ensuring staff is informed of changes.
- Proactively increases multiple-account relationships with current and prospective members through cross-selling, up-selling, and referrals.
- Communicates clearly and professionally in person, over the phone, and in writing.
- Resolves escalated member issues and complaints, escalating further when necessary.
- Identifies and communicates opportunities to enhance efficiencies, productivity, profitability, and team atmosphere.
- Tracks individual and branch productivity and reports monthly.
- Collaborates with colleagues across all departments to meet member and credit union needs.
- Ensures branch employees adhere to policies and procedures described in the Employee Handbook.
- Recommends and manages the branch budget, including equipment and supply purchases.
- Monitors competitors' products, services, and pricing; communicates potential competitive disadvantages to leadership.
- Develops and maintains business relationships with external partners in the local community.
- Coordinates and participates in special events for members, local businesses, and communities.
- Actively participates in internal and external educational programs, schools, or conferences to develop knowledge and expertise.
- Takes initiative for personal career development and staff development, seeking opportunities to learn new skills.
- Completes annual mandatory compliance and other trainings.
- Participates in Credit Union functions, committees, and events as requested.
- Maintains a positive attitude and represents Horizon professionally in community events, sales calls, meetings, and conferences.
- Travels to other locations as needed.
- Works a flexible schedule, including Saturdays and overtime as required.
- Completes all other assigned duties.
Requirements
- Associate degree from an accredited college or university with a concentration in business or finance; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Minimum two years' experience in progressive leadership within branch operations, lending, outdoor sales, or retail sales.
- Professional demeanor in appearance, communication, and action.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to take command of situations, remain confident under pressure, and handle conflict or strong personalities.
- Focused and driven to achieve goals ethically.
Schedule
Flexible schedule, including Saturdays and overtime as needed.
