About the role

As Branch Manager, you will provide daily oversight, administration, and management of all operations of a branch location. You will lead the branch staff to achieve successful levels of customer experience, sales, profitability, and inventory management.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and direct operational activities for the branch.
  • Prepare and implement objectives and plans to support branch and company strategies, including proposal coordination, key customer strategy planning, presentations, financial projections, cross-market strategies, and measurement tools.
  • Coordinate the development of new supply chain solutions, systems, technology, methods, ideas, and procedures to improve sales, profits, efficiencies, automation, service, and quality within a specific market.
  • Streamline operations and meet challenges by coordinating with various teams.
  • Improve efficiency and scalability of branch layout, workflow, and equipment.
  • Utilize warehouse management systems.
  • Provide feedback from the field on customer satisfaction regarding pricing, products, promotions, service, customer needs, and competition.
  • Act as a vendor alignment advisor, providing feedback on the performance of vendor programs and promotions within product lines and market areas.
  • Make customer calls and work to establish and maintain high-level relationships with key customers or prospective accounts.
  • Coordinate management contacts, stay abreast of market trends, and monitor competitive product and price situations.
  • Participate in the coordination, analysis, and decision-making of customer needs, pricing, products, competition, and problem resolution.
  • Provide leadership for the local inventory committee, branch inventory levels and counts, and approve all inventory returns.
  • Monitor competitive factors affecting sales, profits, and market penetration; develop plans to counteract those factors and enhance Border States’ potential and prominence in the market.
  • Oversee the Profit and Loss statement for the area(s) managed.
  • Provide continuous input to leadership on the formulation of the branch Fiscal Year budget and monitor adherence to budgetary objectives.
  • Ensure efficient inventory management, including forecasting, purchasing, and stocking of electrical products to meet customer demand and minimize excess inventory.
  • Develop and maintain business relationships with current and potential customers.
  • Ensure all operations adhere to industry safety protocols and comply with OSHA, DOT, or other governmental agencies.
  • Build a culture that inspires excellence, trust, and dedication to an organization that cares about its employee-owners.
  • Place high importance on talent development by growing others through coaching, feedback, and exposure.
  • Actively recruit for all branch positions.
  • Support branch purchasing, product evaluations, code descriptions, inventory management, and pricing development.
  • Continuously look for systems, methods, and ideas to improve processes, functions, and performance of all branch areas.
  • Implement customer satisfaction surveys.
  • Assist with planning and coordinating annual sales incentive programs.
  • Coordinate distribution of sales reports to staff and provide continuous feedback regarding their sales performance.
  • Assist with establishing sales budgets and goals.
  • Conduct or assist with sales meetings and trade shows.
  • Identify sales, marketing, product, and application training needs and conduct the training.
  • Coordinate with Customer Financial Services staff to resolve key customer-billing problems and advise on changes in customer creditworthiness.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or designate.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a 4-year business or trade degree or equivalent experience required.
  • 3 years of prior management experience including marketing, operations, or sales experience, preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of distribution experience preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak in English required.
  • Strong working knowledge of PC for Windows, Microsoft Office, internet, email, and SAP software preferred.
