Branch Manager 1

Description

The Branch Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of a small library system under the direction of the Library Director. The position supports the Library System's mission, vision, and values through exceptional leadership and dedicated patron focus. Key responsibilities include leading library programming and outreach, managing staff, and promoting the library.

• Lead the Library programming and outreach team, facilitating regular meetings for alignment and collaboration.
• Propose and prioritize programming and outreach initiatives for approval by the Director.
• Distribute the programming and outreach schedule across all platforms and teams.
• Oversight and coordination of all library promotional efforts, including print materials, social media content, and website updates.
• Implement innovative strategies to improve library operations and create new service opportunities.
• Show strong customer service skills by anticipating, understanding, and responding to client needs.
• Collaborate with staff and stakeholders to set goals, solve problems, and enhance library services.
• Analyze trends and environmental conditions to make informed decisions aligned with the library’s mission, vision, and values.
• Partner with the Library Director to support the library’s strategic plan.
• Achieve compliance with legal and policy requirements related to patron privacy and record custody.

Requirements

To qualify, candidates must have an MLIS/MLS degree, one year of public library experience, and one to three years of supervisory or management experience, including staff oversight and performance management. Excellent communication skills, ability to work weekends and evenings, and a commitment to building positive relationships are also required.
