Branch Librarian - San Luis (Grade 13)

This position is advertised from the minimum to the mid-point hourly rate. Salary will be determined based on education and experience at the time of offer.

About the role

Under general supervision, performs professional library work of moderate difficulty in a Branch Library. This position has department-specific responsibilities and may serve as acting supervisor in the absence of the Branch Manager. Hours may vary (Tuesday–Saturday) depending on the needs of the Library District.

Responsibilities

• Assists with the supervision, training, and coordination of Branch Library activities, including training and orientation for new employees, staff, and volunteers.
• May participate in interviewing and selecting new employees and volunteers; may determine work schedules.
• Provides customer service and reference assistance, including responding to public inquiries, assisting patrons with email accounts and applications, and instructing patrons on electronic resources.
• Prepares monthly report statistics using Google Docs.
• Handles cash and processes transactions as scheduled.
• Develops and manages adult public library programs and services; may assist with programming for other age groups.
• Provides computer instruction and performs duties at the Information Services desk.
• May participate in meetings and activities with outside agencies and organizations.
• Conducts collection assessment and may monitor Branch kits, devices, and technology.
• Prepares and submits monthly reports to the Branch Manager.
• Prints and distributes calendars to outside agencies as needed.
• Troubleshoots electronic devices.
• May assist with scanning and filing library card applications.
• May create Branch Social Media events or publications.
• Compiles reports, bibliographies, and search guides.
• Regular and reliable attendance is required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
