Responsibilities

  • Compliance with all Lakeside School and US Rowing policies and procedures.
  • Commitment to providing supports, messaging, actions, and opportunities to a diverse student body who come to school with different and evolving lived experiences and levels of preparation as athletes.
  • Supervision and instructions of boys crew student-athletes during all team activities.
  • Maintenance and inventory of crew program equipment and apparel.
  • Development of practice and competition schedules.
  • Oversight of the crew budget (in collaboration with the girls program head).
  • Hiring and evaluating all assistant, novice and learn-to-row coaches (in collaboration with the girls program head).
  • Management of the learn-to-row summer camps and summer training sessions.
  • Development of a long-term vision for the boys crew program and the creation of a teaching curriculum (7-12 scope and sequence) to support that vision.
  • Support of multi-sport participation for student-athletes.
  • Attendance at monthly program head meetings led by the director of athletics.
  • Participation in ad hoc committees created by the director of athletics to serve the school.
  • Attendance at weekly in-season meetings with the director of athletics.
  • Commitment to being a presence on campus.
  • Promotion of balanced achievement in all areas of school life for student-athletes.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • At least 25 years of age, have a clean driving record and a valid Washington state driver’s license.
  • Be available for all practices and competitions from 2 pm daily during their coaching season with availability on weekends as required.
  • Experience coaching crew at the club, high school or college level is required.
  • Possess or obtain prior to the start of the season First Aid/CPR certification as well as boating safety certification.
  • Satisfactorily complete two criminal background checks.

Compensation

Stipend Range: $27,000 - $30,000

We offer a stipend schedule that compares favorably with peer schools and clubs both locally and nationally. Coaching stipends are paid in monthly installments during the primary competition seasons. Other benefits include Lakeside Athletics apparel and access to funds for professional development.
