About the role
This role involves supervising production employees to ensure safe and quality product production. Key responsibilities include motivating employees, enforcing safety and quality standards, managing schedules, and addressing performance issues.
Responsibilities
- Direct supervision of manufacturing employees
- Work assignment, floor oversight, and coverage
- Own daily production execution, schedule attainment, and on-time delivery commitments
- Monitor production progress in real time, maintain accurate work order status, and take immediate corrective action to resolve delays
- Manage employee timekeeping (vacation requests, timecard approvals)
- Ensure appropriate staffing, coverage, and workforce management to meet operational requirements
- Enforce all safety policies and procedures without exception and address unsafe behavior immediately
- Ensure compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and Local laws, as well as customer and company standards and policies
- Own employee training, cross-training, and qualification requirements to support flexibility and performance
- Conduct performance appraisals and provide ongoing, direct feedback to employees
- Identify and resolve employee relations and performance issues and areas of opportunity
- Administer progressive discipline related to attendance, performance, and policy compliance, up to and including termination
- Reinforce standard work and strict process discipline across all operations, including machining, welding, brazing, furnace operations, assembly, chem-line, and other functions within the facility
- Partner with Quality and Engineering to support containment, identify root cause/corrective action, and proactively drive process improvements
- Coordinate cross-functionally with Scheduling, Purchasing, Logistics, Engineering, and Human Resources
- Lead daily communication of priorities, expectations, and results
- Accountable for departmental performance and achievement of production, safety, and quality objectives
- Provide feedback to management and recommend process improvements to drive continuous improvement
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED or equivalent work experience required; Associate or Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Minimum of 3+ years of manufacturing supervisory experience; 10 years preferred
- Proven ability to lead teams, enforce standards, and drive operational performance
Qualifications
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedures, blueprints, and technical documentation
- Proficient in the use of precision measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers
- Strong knowledge of machining, welding, and assembly processes
- Excellent leadership, team-building, coaching, and communication skills (interpersonal, written, and oral)
- Ability to define problems, collect and analyze data, draw valid conclusions, and execute with attention to detail and urgency in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient computer skills, including employee management systems (Workday), Microsoft Office, and Excel
- Maintain the highest level of confidentiality and accurate recordkeeping
