Box Truck Driver $23/hour full time

About the role

We are looking for a box truck driver/logistics/warehouse worker to join our locally-owned k-12 bookstore in Tempe (Priest and Southern). This position specifically requires experience driving a box truck and will serve as our primary driver of a 26-foot box truck to perform pickups of books at local locations. Time not spent driving will be spent assisting our warehouse with sorting, picking, and packing books, among other warehouse tasks.

Responsibilities

• Drive a 26-foot box truck to perform pickups of books at local locations
• Repeatedly lift 40-60 pound boxes, load them on pallets, and load/unload pallets onto a box truck using manual or automated pallet jack
• Handle logistical details of pickups and coordinate with sales staff who set up these pickups
• Assist warehouse with sorting, picking, and packing books when not driving
• Maintain professionalism and cordiality with customers
• Problem-solve when logistics become difficult
• Travel to support purchasing/sales staff with opportunities for bonus pay (especially in summer)

Requirements

• Experience driving a 26-foot box truck
• Clean driving record (MVR)
• Ability to pass background check and obtain Arizona fingerprint clearance card
• Ability to pass pre-employment math and drug tests
• Ability to repeatedly lift 20-60 pound boxes and load/unload box truck
• Ability to work without supervision
• Detail oriented, able to follow moderately complex criteria while working efficiently
• Type 40+ words per minute, computer savvy
• Critical thinking skills and ability to handle changing logistical situations
• Not afraid to ask questions when appropriate
• Able to handle a variety of parameters and procedures and keep them straight
• Positive attitude
• Forklift experience is a plus

Pay

• $23/hour to start
• Pay increases come over time with increased responsibility and success
• Overtime opportunities available, especially in summer
• Travel bonus pay available

Schedule

• Core hours: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday
• Full-time summer (40 hours/week guaranteed; we do not lower hours during slow seasons or based on company needs)
• Part-time fall/spring options available for students (as few as 6 hours/week)
• Summer overtime opportunities available

• Blackout on time off from May through September
• Start date can be immediate or whenever available
