About the role
Boulder County Community Services Department is seeking to hire 2 (two) Boulder County Head Start Teachers. The Head Start Teacher is responsible for creating and implementing a developmentally appropriate, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment for children ages 3–5 years. The teacher works in partnership with families, staff, and community partners to promote children's school readiness by fostering their cognitive, social-emotional, language, and physical development in alignment with the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework (ELOF) and Head Start Program Performance Standards (HSPPS).
Responsibilities
- Create a safe, healthy, and engaging learning environment that supports the diverse needs of children and families
- Conduct ongoing child assessments and maintain accurate documentation using approved tools (e.g., Teaching Strategies GOLD)
- Mentor and support classroom staff (e.g., Teacher Assistants, Classroom Aides, Subs, Interns, and volunteers) to ensure high-quality interactions and practices
- Collaborate with Education, Family, and Health Services staff to ensure integrated services
- Maintain compliance with HSPPS, CO state licensing requirements, and local health and safety regulations
- Participate in professional development, reflective supervision, team meetings, and coaching activities
- Support positive child behavior and use developmentally appropriate guidance techniques
Requirements
- An associate degree (AA) in early childhood education, or an AA in a field related to early childhood education and coursework equivalent to a major in early childhood education (30 credits), with experience teaching preschool-age children
- In addition, candidates with a CDA in early childhood education who are working towards or willing to work towards obtaining an AA in early childhood education, child development, or in a related field with course work equivalent to a major (30 credits) relating to early childhood education within three years of hire are also eligible for this position
- One year of preschool teaching experience

- Working knowledge of the practices and principles of early childhood education
- Good organization and time management skills
- Ability to supervise and instruct preschool children and children with special needs individually and in groups
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Ability to work effectively with diverse families, including families living in poverty other employees and the public
- Ability to work as part of a team, channeling communications appropriately and exercising good interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of child development principles and early childhood best practices
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
- Proficiency in documentation, observation, and assessment
- Strong communication and teamwork skills

Pay
$55,116.00 - $79,392.00 Annually

Full-time, benefited position that will work Monday - Friday 7:45am - 4:15pm
