Boston Technology Audit & Advisory Senior Consultant

Location: Boston, MA (hybrid model combining in-person and remote work; ratio varies by client, project, and team). Local or out-of-state travel may be required based on project needs and client commitments.

About the role

Protiviti’s Technology Audit & Advisory practice helps clients manage risks associated with technology, protect and enhance enterprise value, and innovate through AI and automation. As a Senior Consultant, you will mentor interns and consultants, identify risk areas and efficiency opportunities, and deepen client relationships. You will also contribute to project scoping, staffing, deliverables, and methodologies under the direction of managers.

Responsibilities

• Mentor, train, and coach interns and consultants to complete project work plans.
• Identify areas of technology risk and opportunities to improve efficiency and performance.
• Strengthen client relationships through communication, trust-building, and networking.
• Lead decision-making on project scope, work plans, staffing, deliverables, and methodologies.
• Assess, identify risk, and advise clients on technology-related topics, including:
  • Cybersecurity
  • Cloud assurance
  • Project risk advisory
  • Technology risk management and assessment
  • IT general controls (ITGC)
  • AI and data governance
  • Data privacy
  • Technology regulations
  • Enterprise applications (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Workday, Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics)
  • Technology resilience
  • IT Sarbanes-Oxley compliance

• Incorporate analytics, AI, automation, and new tools into audit work for deeper, more efficient insights.
• Document findings and summarize recommendations for clients.
• Supervise teams, including mentoring, oversight, review, and coordination.
• Translate and communicate technology topics and audit issues to client personnel, including executives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or business-related field).
• 2+ years of experience in internal audit, consulting, assurance services, risk and control programs, or a related field (professional services or industry).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) with secondary emphasis on Visio and Access.
• Experience with or understanding of:
  • IT audit methodologies and deliverables (process flows, work programs, audit reports, control summaries).
  • Internal control frameworks (COBIT, ISO 27001, NIST CSF, CIS, ITIL).
  • Sarbanes-Oxley Act provisions, particularly technology implications and requirements.
  • Trends in cybersecurity, cloud, data governance, privacy, analytics, enterprise applications, disaster recovery, and systems development methodologies.
  • Analytics and technology enablement (automation, AI/ML).
• Ability to evaluate, summarize, organize, and interpret data.
• Experience establishing and cultivating business relationships and professional networks.
• Supervisory experience, including mentoring, oversight, and team coordination.

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency in PowerBI, Tableau, Alteryx, SQL, Python, and/or RPA solutions.
• Professional certification such as CIA, CRMA, CISA, CISM, CISSP, or similar.
• Interest in leveraging AI to enhance personal productivity and audit activities (planning, fieldwork, reporting).

Pay

Starting salary range: $96,000 – $143,000 (full-time equivalent; placement depends on experience, skills, and geographic work location).

Annual bonus target: 10% of base salary (eligible employees may receive additional cash and/or discretionary stock compensation).

Estimated total cash range: $105,600 – $157,300.
