About the Role

The BOSS MS POD Instructor will deliver high-quality instruction in a blended learning environment for high school students, combining traditional classroom teaching with online learning methodologies. This role involves collaborating with educators, support staff, and students to develop and implement effective instructional strategies that enhance engagement and academic success.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver engaging blended learning lessons incorporating digital resources and traditional teaching methods.
  • Monitor student progress through assessments and provide timely feedback to ensure mastery of subject matter.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop curriculum and instructional materials aligned with state standards and district goals.
  • Utilize data analytics to tailor instruction to meet diverse student needs, fostering a personalized learning experience.
  • Support students in developing digital literacy skills and encourage responsible use of technology.
  • Communicate regularly with students, parents, and guardians to provide progress updates and address concerns.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance instructional practices and stay current with educational technologies.
  • Design and implement an instructional program aligned with CSUSA’s educational philosophy and adopted curriculum objectives.
  • Develop intentional and effective lesson plans incorporating diverse teaching strategies to optimize student engagement.
  • Deliver subject matter using real-world applications and experiential learning to enhance opportunities.
  • Analyze student records to gain insights into individual abilities and needs while maintaining accurate documentation.
  • Integrate varied learning modalities into lessons, employing differentiated instruction tailored to diverse student needs.
  • Conduct frequent diagnostic assessments, evaluate student strengths and weaknesses, and provide targeted activities.
  • Refer students with potential learning challenges to appropriate support services.
  • Organize class field trips and prepare students for state-mandated achievement assessments.
  • Stay informed about subject matter and educational theories, contributing to ongoing curriculum development.
  • Familiarize yourself with supplemental services that enhance student learning beyond regular classroom activities.
  • Establish a virtual classroom environment conducive to learning, suited to student maturity and interests.
  • Build positive relationships with students, demonstrating patience and support to facilitate growth.
  • Enforce relevant policies regarding student behavior and develop clear, reasonable rules for virtual classroom conduct.
  • Develop lesson plans aligned with established educational guidelines and goals.
  • Design individual and group learning activities catering to instructional objectives and student needs using appropriate technologies.
  • Collaborate with colleagues during curriculum planning meetings and integrate IEP requirements into lesson planning.
  • Cultivate cooperative relationships and communicate effectively with parents/guardians when needed.
  • Uphold confidentiality regarding student records and participate in parent communication initiatives.
  • Engage in extracurricular activities to promote a positive school culture and support students and staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Valid teaching certification in the subject area and grade level.
  • Experience with blended learning models and instructional technology.
  • Strong understanding of middle and/or high school curriculum and assessment practices.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to adapt instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Previous experience in virtual teaching or online education environments is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with educational technologies, including learning management systems (LMS), video conferencing tools, and online assessment platforms.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with educational best practices and technology advancements.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport with students and create an inclusive, supportive virtual learning environment.
  • Organizational skills to manage multiple classes, track student progress, and meet deadlines.
  • Best practices for virtual classroom management, including setting clear expectations, engaging students actively, and establishing routines.
  • Effective use of technology tools such as interactive whiteboards, video conferencing, and assessment platforms.
  • Ability to provide timely feedback and foster a positive, collaborative atmosphere.
  • Strong communication with parents, including regular updates, virtual meetings, and open dialogue.

Work Environment

This position operates in a POD location site setting, incorporating both in-person and online instruction. The BOSS High School POD Instructor will collaborate with a team of educators and work closely with students in a supportive, innovative learning environment.

Physical Demands

A BOSS HS POD Instructor working at a POD site daily faces physical demands that combine traditional teaching with online instruction, including extended use of computer-based technologies. The role requires standing, sitting, and walking.

This job is exempt from the minimum wage and overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
