The BOSS HS POD Instructor will deliver high-quality instruction in a blended learning environment for high school students. This role combines traditional classroom teaching with online learning methodologies to enhance student engagement and academic success.
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver engaging blended learning lessons that incorporate digital resources and traditional teaching methods.
- Monitor student progress through assessments and provide timely feedback to ensure mastery of subject matter.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop curriculum and instructional materials that align with state standards and district goals.
- Utilize data analytics to tailor instruction to meet the diverse needs of students, fostering a personalized learning experience.
- Support students in developing digital literacy skills and encourage responsible use of technology in their learning.
- Communicate regularly with students, parents, and guardians to provide updates on progress and address any concerns.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance instructional practices and stay current with educational technologies.
- Design and implement an instructional program that aligns with the company's educational philosophy and the outlined objectives of the adopted course curriculum.
- Develop intentional and effective lesson plans that incorporate diverse teaching strategies and optimize student engagement.
- Deliver subject matter in a way that enhances learning opportunities, utilizing real-world applications and experiential learning.
- Analyze student records to gain insights into individual abilities and needs while ensuring the maintenance of accurate and comprehensive student documentation.
- Aim to enhance the educational outcomes for every student.
- Integrate a variety of learning modalities into each lesson, employing differentiated instruction tailored to diverse student needs.
- Conduct frequent diagnostic assessments to evaluate student learning and maintain accurate and complete records.
- Regularly assess student strengths and weaknesses, providing targeted activities to address their needs and generating required progress reports.
- Refers students with potential learning challenges to the appropriate support services; assigns and evaluates lessons and student presentations.
- Organizes class field trips as necessary.
- Prepares students for state-mandated achievement assessments.
- Remains informed about subject matter and educational theories, sharing insights to improve the school's curriculum continuously.
- Contributes to the ongoing curriculum development process, including revising course materials and selecting instructional resources.
- Familiarizes oneself with supplemental services that enhance student learning beyond regular classroom activities.
- Create a Learning-Conducive Environment
- Establishes a virtual classroom environment that fosters learning and is suited to the maturity and interests of students.
- Buils positive relationships with students, demonstrating patience and support to facilitate their growth.
- Ensures the virtual classroom is organized, safe, and showcases student work appropriately.
- Enforces relevant policies regarding student behavior.
- Instructs and manages a virtual classroom that adheres to organizational guidelines and maintains order in a consistent and fair manner.
- Instructional Planning
- Develops lesson plans that align with established educational guidelines and goals.
- Designs individual and group learning activities that cater to instructional objectives and student needs using appropriate technologies.
- Prepares thoroughly for assigned classes and provides evidence of preparation upon request from supervisory personnel.
- Collaborates with colleagues during designated curriculum planning meetings.
- Integrates all necessary diagnostic information required in each student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP) into lesson planning.
- Takes necessary precautions to safeguard supplies, equipment, and materials essential for effective instructional delivery.
- School/Community Relations
- Aims to cultivate cooperative relationships and communicates effectively with parents/guardians when needed.
- Maintains clear, consistent, and positive communication with parents using appropriate channels.
- Collaborates with administration and fellow staff members.
- Upholds confidentiality regarding student records and engages in parent communication initiatives.
- Participates in extracurricular activities to promote a positive school culture and support both students and staff as required.
- Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Valid teaching certification in the subject area and grade level.
- Experience with blended learning models and instructional technology.
- Strong understanding of middle and high school curriculum and assessment practices.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Ability to adapt instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs.
- Previous experience in virtual teaching or online education environments is highly desirable, showcasing the ability to engage students effectively.
- Demonstrated proficiency with various educational technologies, including learning management systems (LMS), video conferencing tools, and online assessment platforms.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for interacting with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Strong ability to build rapport with students and create an inclusive and supportive virtual learning environment.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple classes, track student progress, and meet deadlines.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with educational best practices and technology advancements.
- Learning Management Systems (LMS): Platforms like Google Classroom, Canvas, or Schoology allow for organizing materials, assignments, and communication in one place.
- Interactive Whiteboards: Tools such as Jamboard or Miro can facilitate collaborative brainstorming and visual learning.
